Thanks to our loyal donors
At the heart of any organization are those individuals who donate on a regular basis--be it someone who gives $20 a month or someone who makes bigger donations a few times a year. This kind of continued support helps an organization survive during leaner times.
APA thanks the following individuals for their continued support:
Dixie Binning
Denise Espinoza
Sonja Goreham
Timothy & Donna Hourigan
(who donate food they collect each
year at their big St. Patrick's Day party)
Jason McClure
(who donated more than 14,000 pounds of
food from Landmark Mercantile in 2009)
Sue Patterson
Charles & Norma Riggs
Lisa Westbrook
Thanks to our Board of Directors

(also serves as APA's Executive Director)
Jean Gilbert, Vice President
Eddie Stephenson, Director
Amy Jo Gonzalez, Director
Melissa Roberts, Director
Thanks to the ASPCA
The ASPCA approved a grant for $5000 for APA's pet food bank and vet care assistance programs in October 2011. We appreciate the support, which came at a time we needed it the most.
Thanks to Best Friends Animal Society
This group, which is a national supporter of pit-bull type dogs and which fights against breed discrimination, helped us with our first group of former-abused dogs via a $1500 donation in September 2011. They also helped us locate resources for the next sets of dogs we need to help rescue.
Thanks to the Three Dog Bakery's Gracie Foundation
APA received a $1000 Gracie Grant from the Three Dog Bakery's Gracie Foundation in 2010. Created by Mark Beckloff and Dan Dye out of their love for dogs, the Gracie Foundation acts as a red cross for dogs in need. The foundation works with a variety of organizations to provide immediate response and crucial supplies to pets in emergency situations. Their grant to APA is in support of our pet food bank.
Thanks to American Classifieds and others for guide support
Not only did staff at American Classifieds help us immensely with our DAC/Las Cruces Animal Resources Guide second edition updates, ad sales and production, and the guide's overall design, they also contributed $500 toward the printing costs when we fell a little short in our ad sales, which is the revenue we raise to cover offering this service for free to the community. Also pitching in to buy some last ads from us were other animal-welfare nonprofits: HSSNM, DACHS, and SNAP. The new guides will be distriburted via several locations the rest of October and November, and you can also pick up copies at all APA events.
Thanks to both our Wal-Mart Stores
Both Las Cruces Wal-Mart stores are giving us daily of pet food and supplies for the APA pet food bank. We thank them for their support. They donate broken bags and items they cannot sell, and we match these still-worthy items to our pet food bank clients. These donations have helped keep the program going in our leaner times.
Thanks to the PETCO Foundation

The PETCO Foundation awarded APA with three grants in 2010 and two in 2011. Two of the grants in 2010 were of direct pet food products for our pet food bank; about 40 bags of dog food and 40 bags of cat food were donated to us by the foundation as well as 10 cases of can cat food. Also awarded to us was a $2500 grant in 2010 for vet care assistance, which we used for vaccination clinics and support as well as spay/neuter co-pays for food bank clients. In 2011, we received another $2500 grant to continue our vet care assistance, and we have since stepped up our vaccination clinic services to the community. We also received a $2000 grant in 2011 for our pet food bank program.
Thanks to Bartoo Sand and Gravel
This company in T or C has donated $750 toward APA's pet food bank after reading about one of our food distributions on an APA volunteer's Facebook page. We appreciate their support!

Thanks to Wild West Pest

Phil Ehly, the owner of this local pest control business, generously offered to exterminate APA's storage unit, which is where we operate our pet food bank. Pests can wreck havoc on our pet food supply, which is our most precious commodity. So, we greatly apprecaite Phil's donation of his professional services.
Wild West Pest can be reached at 650-7849.
Thank to the Martinez family
from El Paso
These dog rescuers in El Paso met us half-way at Anthony to donate more than 900 pounds of dog food to the pet food bank in July 2011. We thank them for their generosity!
