Our Stories
There's always alot going on behind the scenes at APA. Besides running a pet food bank, we work hard at local animal-welfare networking and making the most of our resources; we field many calls daily from food bank clients and people that need help; and we try our best to save as many lives as possible. We also make it a point to parnter with other groups to do so because we know collaboration and community unity is very important in making a difference.
These are some of our recent stories...
The new, winter adventures
of Lady & Chico
APA has a couple of senior neigbors--Lady and Chico. We help care for them because their guardian is now very ill. Because they are outside dogs, we were very worried about them when the recent cold front hit us in December. APA volunteer Renee Davis and director Michel Meuiner brought them indoors when the night temps dropped down to the teens.
These pictures are of Lady and Chico in their temporary holding place. They were sleeping comfortably in their warm room. They now have a doggy apartmentof their own at their house, thanks to their guardian's son who clared out a shed for them to sleep in with a heater in it, so now they will be protected all winter.

AWARE Dogs Deserve Better Digital Billboard
You may have seen this digital billboard, which Newman is running on behalf of AWARE. APA's logo and phone number are also featured so we can answer any questions people have about chaining dogs and especially to help people seek alternatives to this inhumane, cruel practice.
Helping get dogs off chains
There are special people that go above and beyond to help those in need, and Amy Jo is one of these people. When Amy heard about an APA pet food bank/SNAP client needing help mending her fence so that she could get her dogs off their chain, Amy volunteered to not only help secure the materials needed but to pitch in with alot of the work mending the fence as well. Now, because of Amy's efforts, and with help from APA for the costs of the project, there are two dogs living much happier lives free from their chains. Following are a few pictures from this project. This pet food bank client also reported to us that with the leftover fencing, a neighbor of hers was also able to fix his fence and get his dog off the chain as well.

The freed dogs are now happy to run and play in their yard!
