Download and post this flyer to help these dogs find a foser or permanent home quickly: click here These formerly-abused pit bull-type dogs need your help finding foster homes, permanent homes, or safe rescue/sanctuary placements. Traditionally, after spending years in the court system, these dogs would have been turned over to our animal shelter when their cases were resolved and most likely killed immediately. That's what happens to alot of animal abuse victims in our country's current animal-welfare system.
We at APA believe these animals should be at the top of the SAVE list for all animal-welfare organizations and shelters/rescues. They deserve a second chance at a life as a pampered pet after first suffering abuse/neglect at the hands of their previous owners and then being held as evidence for so long.
Thankfully, we are being allowed to step in and help during that transition period for a few of these dogs and have an area where we can kennel them. They are safe with us!
However, we need your help to find these dogs a rescue, foster home, or permanent home as soon as possible so they don't languish in a kennel any longer. We also stared a Second Chance Dogs Fund, which helps us care for the dogs and transport them if they are accepted into rescues outside of our area. Donors can earmark any donation they make to us to this fund.
Building a lifesaving foster network for 2012We are trying to help build a lifesaving foster network to save more lives. We want to match foster homes to animals in need in our community, and this network will service all of the animal groups in the area as well as the municipal shelter.
Fostering an animal for a short or long period of time is a rewarding part of volunteerism in our community. For those who cannot make a lifetime commitment to a dog or cat at this time but still enjoy their company, this is an ideal way to get the best of both worlds and save lives in the process. If you are interested in joining our community's foster network, contact us at 575-644-0505 or via e-mail at actionprogramsforanimals@yahoo.com.
