Donate a used vehicle or heavy equipment

Through v-Dac, APA accepts donations of used vehicles.  Turn in your used car, truck, motorcycle, RV, boat, airplane, heavy equipment, farm machinery, etc.  V-Dac strives to accept most donations--whether the vehicle is running or not.  When accepted, the vehicle is picked up at your location, and V-Dac provides a receipt for your tax records when they sell the donated vehicle (usually within 30 days of pickup).  APA gets the largest portion of these proceeds to help support our work and programs.

Donate in Memory of a Loved
one or make a Planned Gift

If you'd like to make a donation in memory of a loved one (human or animal!), please make these donations by mail to APA, P.O. Box 125, Las Cruces, NM, 88004.  Tell us about the person or animal in whose behalf you are making the donation, and send us a picture and short story about your beloved family member.  You can also send us this information by e-mail at actionprogramsforanimals@yahoo.com so we can post it on our Pet Memorials & Altar page.  Please also consider a planned gift to APA in your will to help us carry out our work for years to come; call us for any information you need at

Volunteer Help Needed

We have many different kinds of opportunities for volunteers interested in helping make a difference for companion animal sin our community--from fundraising to help us grow to outreach efforts to food bank support, etc.  To learn more about the programs and services we plan to implement, and to see our ideas for volunteer working groups, please download and review the handout from our recent volunteer meeting by clicking here.  Let us know if you are intersted in any of our work.

Other ways to help

• Hold a food or monetary collection on our behalf, and we'll pick up any donations you collect; call us at 644-0505
• Partner with us to expand animal-welfare outreach work in the community
• Help us provide other low-cost pet services to qualifying families, such as grooming, wellness clinics, helping with behavior issues and training, etc.
• Help us with supplies -- clear packing tape, shrink wrap, Ziploc bags, markers, pens, copies, etc.; help with donated pet care items as well
• Help us with fundraising events and grant seeking
• Help provide fencing materials or donate your skills and time to help mend or build fences in order to get dogs off chains
• Help deliver pet food and other items to home-bound recipients
• Donate your trucking services for pickup and delivery of large quantities of food
• Contribute your graphic art, writing, and online social network skills for PR work and publications
• Contribute your accounting skills for financial reviews and audits, which will open up more granting oppotunities for us
• Donate warehouse space for food and an adjacent space for offices and to hold food distributions various times a month as well as conduct other APA business

Participate in our Albertsons Community Partners Program

We are participating in the Albertsons Community Partners Program.  There is no cost to get involved, and we will benefit greatly with your help.  We'll provide you with a key tag that you can scan at the check out each time you shop at Albertsons.  We will earn 1% of your shopping each time you have the tag scanned.  To get your APA key tag, stop by one of our tabling or other events, or contact us via phone (575-644-0505) or e-mail (actionprogramsforanimals@yahoo.com) and give us your name and address.  We'll mail you a pair of tags or as many as you request so you can share with friends and family. 

Donate pet food & items

APA gladly accepts pet food donations at one of our food donation bin locations througout the city.  We accept opened food that is still good, and we accept other pet items as well.  However, we are in most need of dry cat and dog food.  Our supplies are usually depleted after our monthly food distributions.
